A few weeks ago, I caved into the hype and made reservations on a Saturday night for Fogo de Chao. The classic and beautiful restaurant situated on the corner of 13th and Chestnut Sts. attracts the attention of casual passerbys and meat afficionados alike. From the time my boyfriend and I were seated, we were warmly greeted by one of the servers and we chose a bottle of Pinot Noir to accompany the delicious meal. Each of us received a round disk, one side red and the other side green, to indicate whether or not we wanted the gaucho chefs to serve various cuts of meat onto our plates. I must say, once you turn the disk over to the green side, they will practically run at you and slice up delicious and tender cuts of chicken, sausages, fillet mignon, sirloin and beef ancho. Each cut of meat was cooked to perfection and to taste with simple and basic seasonings. We also scouted the salad bar, clean and stationed with fresh vegetables, a variety of already-made salads and various dressings. The servers treat each guest like royalty and constantly meet each guest's needs. I warn you, price-wise, it is not for the frugal spender. The dinner was approximately $48.50 a person, not including the wine and tip. However, lunch is slightly cheaper at around $30.00 and I encourage all meat-lovers to eat to their heart's content.
